This Month in Firearms News On the cover : German Sport Guns GSG-9 From American Tactical, review by Vincent L. DeNiro, Editor-in-Chief
I became very familiar with American Tactical, Inc. (ATI) back in 2007, when I met its founder and CEO Tony Dichario while I worked for Beretta. Prior to that, I was a customer of American Tactical’s sister company AMCHAR Wholesale, which provides firearms and other related equipment to retailers across the USA. American Tactical is a firearms brand that manufactures and imports firearms including over and under shotguns, AR-15-type rifles and pistols in the Omni line, semi-auto, pump, and single-shot shotguns, and a wide selection of handguns in .22LR and .45 ACP, some in 1911 configuration. I have written up a number of these reasonably priced and reliable firearms from ATI over the years (just type “American Tactical” in the search bar at FirearmsNews.com to read some of the articles). The GSG-9 is from another line of firearms, German Sport Guns , and yes, I have reviewed and purchased some of these great guns, which includes the .22 LR-chambered GSG-16 (enter “GSG-16” in the search bar at Firearms News.com to read my review). The GSG-16 and GSG-9 have about the same number of similarities and differenc- es when compared to the MP5-type firearms, such as the HK 94 carbine, the GSG-5 22.LR (MP5-type rifle), and MP5-type pistols such as the MAC-5, which I reviewed for the November 2024 issue. I first saw the GSG-9 at the 2023 SHOT Show in the ATI booth and became interested in the design (you can watch the video of my interview with ATI at FirearmsNews.com). So, let’s take a closer look.
