Game On: Morgan, King Feud

Gun-hating former CNN host Piers Morgan, not content to slink into well-deserved obscurity, has ginned up a feud with his predecessor, Larry King.

King, appearing on the Howard Stern radio show, said CNN made a mistake bringing the veteran Fleet Street hack across the Atlantic, and that he personally wasn't particularly surprised or disappointed at the result:

"The best definition of mixed emotions: Your mother-in-law goes over the cliff in your new car," the former Larry King Live host said. "The mix was I thought they made a mistake in the Piers hire. I thought it was a mistake, one, to hire a Britisher in primetime and, two, I thought that he made himself too much part of the show."

Gun owners can certainly agree with the second part.

Predictably, Morgan responded with a series of Twitter rants, referring to King as a "poisonous twerp" and including the following: "And FYI @kingsthings - there is no such word as 'Britisher'. But then research & facts were never your strong point were they, Brooklyner?:"

Well, Piers is a Limey and I'm not, but I recall this lyric from one of the all-time greats of British literature and music, Noel Coward:

Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun.

The Japanese don't care to, the Chinese wouldn't dare to,

Hindus and Argentines sleep firmly from twelve to one,
