Nordstrom Stores to Ban CCW Nationwide

On May 28th, a Nordstrom employee sent Firearms News the following Nordstrom corporate policy notice entitled “No Guns in Stores – A More Direct Approach”. It read as follows:

“Except for authorized law enforcement, we firmly believe there’s just no place for guns in our stores. We’re going to be more directly letting our customers know they’re not allowed to bring guns into stores. We’ll do this by posting front of house signage that explains our no guns in store policy. While the signs will make this policy more visible, this is not a major shift from our previous approach. In the past, if we saw a customer carrying a gun in our store, we’d ask them to remove it. We’ll continue doing that, only now we’ll have a more clearly written policy.

All U.S. stores will receive this signage, along with taking points, FAQs and training resources for store managers to help support conversations with customers. Signs should be posted on June 14th, 2021

While our no gun policy applies to all our stores in both the U.S. and Canada, given the unique environment in Canada, those stores do not need signs and will continue to follow existing processes.

More than anything, we want to ensure you feel safe and comfortable at work. We think this shift will help everyone feel safe when [SCREENSHOT CUT OFF]”

Firearms News did ask for another copy of the entire message, but it seems that the Nordstrom employee was concerned about being fired for sending it in the first place. Although the screenshot did not show the entire statement, the message is clear, Nordstrom wants its customers and employees to be defenseless because it makes them feel better.

Only a few days after receiving this notice, on June 1st, shots rang out at the upscale Ross Park Mall outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Up to six individuals pulled handguns after an altercation and several shots were fired. Panic ensued, and hundreds of customers were either sheltered in place or escaped the mall. So, how did Nordstrom handle the situation? Employees and customers were huddled into an area in their store and told not to leave. This “sheltering in place” approach to mass shootings basically leaves those, who sheepishly follow orders from “leaders” who have absolutely no authority, to become easy targets of murderous thugs. As one self-defense expert opposed to sheltering in place put it – “It's like shooting fish in a barrel.” Fortunately, no one was injured, and after a couple of hours the situation was under control.

What about all of those unarmed security guards you see at malls? Will they protect you from armed killers? Anyone who reads the ridiculous unarmed security protocols from these retail corporations, or even from security guard companies, finds out real fast that the corporations care more about liberal political correctness than the lives of their customers and employees. In reality, which these policies seem to avoid, the unarmed security guard, with his/her walkie-talkie, is many times the first target as a security guard found at Atlanta’s Lenox Mall yesterday. Two 15-year-old teens (male and female), both with prior criminal records, tried to rob the Apple store when they were confronted by the security guard. One of the teens shot the guard in the chest.

So, Nordstrom is yet another corporation which does not support the American right of self-defense. Hopefully, gun owners will remember this when visiting their favorite mall, especially around the Christmas shopping season, and not spend any money at this store. And, any store which would sell artwork depicting communist murderer Che Guevara as cool and hip is a store that no patriotic American should patronize.
