Handy, reliable and accurate - now chambered in an incredibly versatile round.

By Jim Grant
A few months ago, Winchester Ammunition unveiled a new revolutionary cartridge, the .350 Legend. This round was designed to offer hunters living in states that only allowed straight-walled rounds, a new option that functions well in semi-automatic platforms.
Furthermore, the .350 Legend is supposed to be more economic than other new rounds because it uses .223 Rem brass as a basis. Plus, given it’s .223 / 5.56 heritage, the round also fits in modified AR-15 magazines. Meaning, shooters can utilize MSR’s chambered in the round, without having to buy proprietary lowers.
But no matter how great a round is, it can still fail if no gunmakers decide to adopt it. So far, only CMMG had made rifles and uppers in the new round, but with this latest announcement, one of the biggest gunmakers in American has entered into the fray.
Indeed, Ruger just announced three new rifles chambered in the hard-hitting round.

The first two are variants of the popular American Ranch Rifle. Lightweight, durable and affordable, the Ruger Ranch Rifle enjoys a reputation for reliability, and quality. Both feature a 16.38” cold hammer-forged barrel with a 1:16” twist rate.
Additionally, each of these new bolt-guns feature a 1/2x28 threaded barrel, allowing shooters to install whichever muzzle device they desire. Given the potential of the ultra-heavy subsonic .350 Legend rounds, this could make the little Ranch Rifle one heck of a suppressor host. The two models differ only in their stock configuration. One has a 13.75in length of pull, while the other has a compact 12.50in length of pull.

Ruger brings the .350 Legend round to their AR-556 series of rifles. The third rifle, is one that will certainly be a hit with fans of modern sporting rifles. That’s right, Ruger is releaseing a version of their AR-556 MPR chambered in .350 Legend.

Like the Ranch Rifles above, the 556 MPR will also feature a 1/2x28 muzzle thread but in the MPR’s case, will also ship with a radial port muzzle brake.
Additionally, the gun will ship with Ruger’s Elite 452 AR-Trigger, Magpul buttstock and pistol grip, as well as a 15-inch free-floated M-LOK handguard. While no price point was announced yet, these new guns will surely be available soon, with prices and availability being listed at Ruger.com .
