In a shocking turn of events for Second Amendment supporters who voted for Trump, the controversial president revealed today at a press conference plans to enact 1984-style citizen monitoring.
According to The Daily Caller , Trump’s administration is considering a proposal that would use major tech companies like Google and Apple to monitor American citizens for signs of violent behavior and mental illness. The results of the information gathered would be a score attached to the person monitored and that score would determine is he/she could own a firearm. This is shockingly similar to the social scoring system used by the communist Chinese government.
The proposal calls for the creation of a new agency called HARPA , or H eath Advanced Research Projects Agency that would be part of the Health and Human Services Department. While the concept was originally proposed in 2017, the idea was recently resurrected thanks to Suzanne Wright Foundation who contacted Trump asking him to reconsider and include a new project called Stopping Aberrant Fatal Events by Helping Overcome Mental Extremes or SAFE HOME.
The president has close ties to this organization, and is a friend of the founder, Bob Wright. According to the report, HARPA would develop, “breakthrough technologies for early diagnosis of neuropsychiatric violence.”

Part of this same document outlines the use of Apple, Amazon and Google products like the Echo, Siri, and Alexa, to monitor individuals. While Trump hasn’t personally made a statement either way on this technology, according to the Washington Post, he reacted, “very positively” to the idea.
With all the draconian, freedom-suppressing measures the President has taken into consideration recent months, it will be interesting to see if he still retains the NRA’s support in the upcoming election.
